SHADOWHUNTER'S CODEX Sneak Peek #2 from Simonteen

Simonteen has started releasing snippets from The Shadowhunter's Codex. Simonteen has started releasing snippets each day until the day of the book's release -Oct. 29. Check out the first few pages here. Here is day 2 of the Shadowhunter's Codex snippet:

Synopsis:

Delve into the details of all things Shadowhunter with this illustrated guide to the knowledge and lore of the Shadowhunter world.

Since the thirteenth century, the Shadowhunter’s Codex has been the one and only manual for Shadowhunters looking to brush up on their demon languages, learn proper stele use, and discover just what exactly a pyxis is. Featured in both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, this guide is a necessity for any young Nephilim on their journey to becoming a Shadowhunter. Beautifully illustrated, the Codex contains images of the famous Shadowhunter homeland of Idris, as well as depictions of demons and other Downworlders.

But this isn’t just any copy of The Shadowhunter’s Codex. It’s Clary’s copy, and as an artist herself, she’s sketched pictures of her friends and family in the book, and scrawled helpful advice in the margins. Of course, she couldn’t exactly stop Jace or Simon from adding their thoughts either. Part encyclopedia, part history, part training manual—complete with commentary from Shadowhunters who have seen it all—this beautiful guide is a perfect supplement to the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

SHADOWHUNTER'S CODEX Sneak Peek of the First Few Pages from Simonteen

Earlier today, Cassandra Clare gave us a sneak peek of the first page on Shadowhunter names, and now, Simonteen has started releasing snippets from the book. Simonteen will start releasing snippets each day until the day of the release -Oct. 29. Here are the first few pages (click to englarge):

A lot of Shadowhunters were also wondering what the difference is between The Shadowhunter's Codex hardcover and the limited edition. Cassandra Clare explains that:
The regular Codex has all the art and the text but not colored. So the differences are the velvet slipcase (a case you can slide the book out of), and gold Cup, the gold pages and ribbon, etc. It’s basically a really beautiful object. But the regular version is pretty too and contains no less information! So it’s really up to you what you want.

Perks of Pre-Ordering CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE Early

Just like the last book of The Infernal Devices, the last book of The Mortal Instruments (City of Heavenly Fire) will have some extra content inside the book jacket for North American Hard Cover First Editions.
Cassandra Clare has the details:
What the CoHF special first edition cover offers is basically a chance to see Cliff (the cover artist who has done all my covers) do his take on characters that would otherwise not make it onto covers, especially since this is the last book about them.
And in another tumblr post, Cassandra Clare tells us:
There are of course two figures on the proper cover of the book, but other characters, some who we’ve never seen on covers before, will be on the inside of the first edition’s jacket.
And that’s all I can say right now …
Once again, when the collectors first editions are sold out, that's it -there will be no second batch of collectors editions. Make sure you pre-order the book soon!

Catch up on the Latest Women of the Shadowhunter Universe Calendar Pictures

This Women-of-the-Shadowhunter-world Calendar originally started with Men of the Shadowhunter Universe Calendar. These calendars are drawn by illustrator, Cassandra Jean, with the help of Cassandra Clare.
So the beautiful Cassandra (NOT me, Cassandra Jean) as you know collaborated to create a calendar of the TMI/TID/TDA/TLH boys — Men of the Shadowhunter Universe, I guess — and while I don’t know what we’re going to do with it yet, we decided to do a matching calendar for the girls. Cassandra wanted to work with classic pinup poses, so here’s Grace from TLH being ice queen January, and Helen and Aline being February 2014, celebrating Valentine’s Day*. Lookit Helen’s cute pointy ears!

*But not the way Valentine celebrates it.

More calendar pics! March Cecily and April Maia — I put them alongside March Will and April Matthew for compare and contrast. Everyone looks gorgeous thanks to Cassandra Jean.

Lily Collins is the New Face of Lancôme

Wow! Look at the fabolous photo of Lily Collins posing to be the new "face" of Lancôme. ENews has the scoop:
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones actress has been named Brand Ambassadress for Lancôme. Which means in addition to popping up in glossy magazine ads—her first will be for Lancôme's French Ballerine makeup collection to released in January—the star now has even more reason to experiment with her red carpet hair and makeup.
Over the last year alone she has shown a true talent in being a beauty chameleon. Although she naturally she has Snow White's looks (she even played the famous heroine in 2012'sMirror Mirror) she isn't afraid to go full on gothic glamour—which she did most recently at Paris Fashion Week
Lily Collins told ET about how she is so honoured to be representing the Maison Lancôme "I have always admired the brand's unique and distinctive appreciation for inner beauty and grace, elegance and utter radiance. I feel incredibly lucky to be included among the most inspirational women ambassadresses for one of the most prestigious brands in the world. It’s truly a dream come true."

Congrats, Lily!

New CARSTADALE HERONSTAIRS Snippet from Cassandra Clare

aegisdea
After Cassandra Clare saw some Jem and Will artwork on tumblr, she decided it would be a "HERONSTAIRS DAY." And so, today, we get to read some new dialogue from Will and Jem -also known as Carstadale or Heronstairs!
Check out this very Heronstairs-y snippet:
"I love you," Will said. "I love you desperately. I have never felt for another the way I feel for you. My love for you is as eternal as the sea, and like the rocks against which the waves are dashed, again and again, it shall remain unyielding. In you I have found my own heart’s heart, which I had thought previously only to find in dreams. Never could I have encompassed a better partner, a finer friend, a more beauteous companion. Allow me just once to kiss your sweet lips."
Jem looked up from the fire, where he was petting Church. Church had fallen asleep and all his fur was sticking up. “I do wish you would cease reading to me from Gothic novels,” he said. “They give me the pip.”
"Love is a noble emotion!" Will cried, waving his arms about with such energy that the book he was reading slid from his lap. His hair was sticking up like Church’s fur, or a bit as if he had been electrocuted.
"Quite," said Jem, and rolled over onto his back, smiling up at Will from his place by the fire. Church twitched and snuffled, curling up against his shoulder. "Now read me something with a fight scene in it, won’t you?"

A New Unidentified Snippet With Someone "Dying in [Someone's] Arms"

Cassandra Jean
Cassandra Clare has released a new snippet. The catch is that is it an unidentified snippet, so we don't know which one of her beloved characters is dying!
"Well, it’s a bit ironic, isn’t it?"
"What do you mean?"
"All that effort to convince you I wasn’t in love with you, and here I am, dying in your arms."
Have any guesses? Let us know in the comments.

Place Holder Art for 'The Mortal Instruments: CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE' Revealed

Cassandra Clare revealed the place holder art for the final book in The Mortal Insturments, City of Heavenly Fire. What this means is this is not the the artwork that will appear on the book, but it's just a picture to show on Amazon and other online stores in the meantime.
Today seems a good day to reveal the placeholder cover for City of Heavenly Fire! This is not the final cover, but since you’ll be seeing it all over, on amazon etc. until they reveal the final, might as well see it here first. I did not come up with the tagline, but I like it.

The final cover will of course not have words on it, but people. I cannot tell you which people. You will have to wait for the reveal. There is also an extra surprise printed on the inside cover! *dances*
