Robert Sheehan Compares Himself to his 'MORTAL INSTRUMENTS' Character - Simon Lewis

From fansshare, Robert Sheehan compares himself to Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments.
"I think Simon is a pioneer of counter-culture, he’s very much like a bohemian guy and that’s very much what I am. In that sense I’m drawn to things that define themselves by being on the fringe; culturally, musically, theatrically all that stuff. I think that’s how young people find each other a lot of times by what kind of culture they are interested in, what they have in common." He added, "He feels very much like a New York kid who is constantly discovering things. New York being a hotbed of creativity. The fact that he’s in bands, and he’s just kind of reaching out creatively all the time and I’m drawn to people like that. And I’d like to think I am one of those."

Godfrey Gao, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, and Aidan Turner in VH1's '20 Hot Guys You Need to Know In 2013'

Check it out, we have 4 of VH1's 20 Hot Guys You Need to Know in 2013!

Jamie Campbell Bower

2013 Projects To Watch: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (Aug 26)

Why Is He Hot This Year?: If Gao is on the verge of breaking out because of a juicy bit part in a popular YA film adaptation, the film's lead should also brace himself for success.

Things To Know About Him: Campbell Bower isn't a stranger to the fantasy genre. He was a Volturi in The Twilight Saga and Grindelwald, aka Dumbledore's crush/lover/enemy in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Oh, and he used to date Ginny Weasley.

Godfrey Gao

2013 Projects To Watch: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (Aug 26)

Why Is He Hot This Year?: Gao is a smoking hot Taiwanese model and actor who is crossing over to Western films in a big way with one of the more juicy roles in a film filled with eye candy, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Also, he has a vocal online fan community.
Things To Know About Him: He was born in Taiwan, but moved to Canada at the age of 9, but then moved back to Taiwan to model and act in a plethora of teen dramas.

Robert Sheehan

2013 Projects To Watch: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (Aug 26)

Why Is He Hot This Year?: Sheehan is the third up-and-comer who could break out on The Mortal Instruments series alone. However, unlike Gao and Campbell Bower, he hasn't forged his path playing pretty boys, but character acting his way through cheeky anti-heroes and historical characters.

Things To Know About Him: Sheehan started acting professionally in his late teens in his native Ireland, grew in popularity and acclaim and jumped to the UK market with film roles and an electrifying performance in Misfits. He's appeared in a number of US films in supporting roles, but is poised for a crossover to Hollywood. Oh, and he apparently likes wine. That's good.

Aidan Turner

2013 Projects To Watch: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (Aug 26) & The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Dec 13)

Why Is He Hot This Year?: Turner is probably the most visible dwarf in The Hobbit being that he's the youngest, (arguably) the hottest, and the one least covered in make-up and his character is one of the more "human" ones in the trilogy. On the flip side, he'll be the mature elder of the pack in The Mortal Instruments, so he's got two places to be seen in different ways by fantasy audiences.
Things To Know About Him: He recently cut his hair, which would be sad, but it still looks really, really, really good.
Here's what Cassie had to say about this news:
I remember Harald interviewing Aidan for the first time and being like, all your hair, where did it go? And Aidan being like… “it was a wig?”

MTV's Behind the Scene's With Robert Sheehan on the 'City of Bones' Set

MTV has had interviews on the set of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, this time they've interviewed Robert Sheehan -who will be portraying Simon Lewis. (Video for US only) Also check out all their WonderCon 2013 interviews with Lily Collins, Kevin Zegers, and Jamie Campbell Bower here.
"Simon, he's the only normal guy in the whole script in the sense that everyone else has some kind of magical ability, so he's very much the normal perspective, the normal eyes, the guy who is kind of asking the questions," Sheehan told MTV News' Josh Horowitz during a visit to the Toronto set last year. "He's thrust into these very abnormal situations. It's quite exciting."
Yet, for all the supernatural shenanigans that transpire, Simon also faces a very real teen problem: unrequited love.
"It's very clear from the beginning of the story that Simon is quite desperately in love with his friend, who's been his best friend pretty much all their lives," Sheehan explained of his character's affections for Clary. "And it eventually comes to the fore, and they kind of work through it. It's interestingly written in the script because it's kind of just about small conversations that happen between two friends and eventually ends up in, 'Hey, by the way...' And it's been a lovely part, and I'm working with that amateur Lily Collins, and I'm dragging her through the dramatic stuff, you know."
And while the leather-clad, weapon-wielding Shadowhunters (which also include Kevin Zegers and Jemima West) are arguably much hipper than nerdy Simon, Sheehan says he doesn't envy his Nephilim-portraying counterparts.
"They may look cool in their leather and sexy boots, but they have to come in about two hours before I do every day to get those rune tattoos put on and taken off and put on and taken off, so they get a lot less sleep than I do."

Robert Sheehan Talks About 'City of Bones' in a Radio Interview

Interviewer: There is a weird kind of shadowy vampire element to it. Is it going to be the new Twilight or do you not like those types of comparisons?
Robert: It definitely runs along the same ilk; there are similar aspects to the story. It's very much like an old fashion kind of story book. The director, a very lovely man name Harald Zwart, he shot this film. He shot the film on 16 mm which for a film maker it gives it an old quality. I think he was trying to make a old story book type film. There is similarities to Twilight but has much more of a magical feel.
Interview: I heard you compared to Indiana Jones, it's kind of adveture-y, right?
Robert: Ya, when I first read the script that was one of the things that struck me most. There's a wonderfully tendential nature to the adventure they have. They go off to do one thing and then they get pulled and dragged from one thing to the next. They get distracted, very much like Indiana did, back in the day.
Interviewer: But it has that half human element to it doesn't it?

Robert Sheehan talks about the adventures of 'The Mortal Instruments'

From an interview from xposĂ©Entertainment with Robert Sheehan at the Jameson Empire Awards:
Robert Sheehan says 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' will be adventurous like 'Indiana Jones'.
The actor - who stars alongside Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower in the hotly anticipated big screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare's young adult sci-fi novel - has likened the film to the Harrison Ford-starring franchise, revealing it has an ''uninhibited sense of adventure''.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz on the red carpet, he said: ''It's a great big fat action film. Basically, I think it's magical and wonderful. For me, it was lots of great big fun shooting it because I was regressed back to being a boy because it was all very fantastical. There were lots of vampires, werewolves and all that business. It was great. It lent itself well to the imagination.
''I think it has an uninhibited sense of adventure. There's a wonderful, tangential sense to the adventure, much in the way of Indiana Jones, where he basically gets pulled to and fro in the mad tide of adventure and [the films are] completely out of control from start to finish.
''That's what I love about the script and that's what I think the script has done.''
The former 'Misfits' star also confirmed that he and his fellow cast mates are signed on to star in potential sequels to the movie, which is based on the first of Clare's bestselling 'The Mortal Instruments' books - five of which have been published, with a sixth due for release next year.
Quizzed about his contractual obligations for future sequels, he said: ''Yes, we are indeed.'
