The Shadowhunter's Codex cover revealed next week

The Shadowhunter Codex is expected to be released sometime in November this year.
Cassandra Clare recently posted on tumblr that the cover will finally be unveiled
Also, next week we will be revealing the cover of the Shadowhunter’s Codex. And it’s looking pretty awesome.
About The Shadowhunter Codex:
A GUIDE TO THE WORLD OF THE NEPHILIM

The Clave is pleased to announce the newest edition of the Nephilim’s oldest and most famous training manual: the Shadowhunter’s Codex. Since the thirteenth century, the Codex has been the young Shadowhunter’s best friend. When you’re being swarmed by demons it can be easy to forget the finer points of obscure demon languages or the fastest way to stop an attack of Raum demons. With the Codex by your side, you never have to worry.
Now in its twenty-seventh edition, the Codex covers it all: the history and the laws of our world; how to identify, interact with, and if necessary, kill that world’s many colorful denizens; which end of the stele is the end you write with. No more will your attempt to fight off rogue vampires and warlocks be slowed by the need to answer endless questions from your new recruits: What is a Pyxis? Why don’t we use guns? If I can’t see a warlock’s mark, is there a polite way to ask him where it is? Where do we get all our holy water? Geography, History, Magic, and Zoology textbook all rolled into one, the Codex is here to help new Shadowhunters navigate the beautiful, often brutal world that we inhabit.
Do not let it be said that the Clave is outdated or, as the younger Shadowhunters say, “uncool”: this new edition of the Codex will be available not only in the usual magically-sealed demonskin binding, but also in a smart, modern edition using all of today’s most exciting printing techniques, including such new features as a sturdy clothbound cover, a protective dust jacket, and information about title, author, publisher, and so on conveniently available right on the cover. You’ll be pleased to know that it fits neatly into most satchels, and unlike previous editions, it rarely sets off alarm wards.
The old woodcuts and engravings have been replaced as well: instead, you’ll find lavish modern illustrations by some of the brightest luminaries of the fantastic. Creatures, weapons, people, and places have been carefully and accurately rendered by the likes of Rebecca Guay, Charles Vess, Jim Nelson, Theo Black, Elisabeth Alba, and Cassandra Jean. Chapters are beautifully introduced by the drawings of Michael Kaluta, and along with our condensation of the classic 2,450-page tome, A History of the Nephilim, you will find a selection of the best of the lovely illustrations of that volume by John Dollar.
This edition of the Codex will be available in Institute libraries and what mundanes sometimes call “book stores” in [DATE], 2013.

Unidentified Snippet Nov. 25th

Sunday, November, 25th Cassie gave us an Unidentified Snippet

Belatedly, she realized something else. “Do you … have anything?”
He didn’t seem to have recovered from her last comment. “But do you mean — wait, do I have what?”
She slitted her eyes at him. “Something important.”
“Like what? The phone number for the White House?” A moment later, under her withering glare, realization dawned. “Oh.” His was the expression of someone who has run out of gas in the middle of the desert, miles from help. “I … “

Did You Miss Cassandra Clare at Yallfest 2012?

Don't Worry, You Can Watch the Streaming on BlogTV
For the Keynote speech with Cassandra Clare and Holly Black, you can watch it here

What you missed:
About Casting:
  • Cassandra Clare wasn't supposed to get the casting director's number, but they made a mistake, and as a result, Cassie was involved with the casting!
  • At the auditions there were 11 "judges", they needed to find an actor that would please all 11 "judges"
  • Cassie wanted Robert Sheehan from the VERY beginning
  • Not everyone agreed on Robert so they narrowed it down to the top 4 and saw which had the best chemistry with Jamie Campbell Bower and Lily Collins
  • Cassie heard through the phone that Jamie and Lily both preferred Robert
  • Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Jarrid Harris did not meet with Jamie or Lily; they talked to Harald Zwart -the directer- through skype
  • The actors didn't know that everyone would watch the video on the server
About Movie Adaptations:
  • Cassie said "movies allow you to see the movie in a different way"
  • In the movie we get to see scenes that Clary isn't in
  • That is a departure from the books but Cassie likes it
  • Cassie helped with discussing which scenes to put in; she knows that if they cut out certain scenes, the fans will get very mad
  • One of those things is Magnus and Alec's relationship!
About Jamie Campbell Bower and Jace:
  • Jamie has read ALL of the books
  • He learned the names and design of the runes
  • Cassie tells us the put a wedding rune on Jamie and he said "this is a wedding rune, I'm not married; take it off"
  • Jamie Campbell Bower learned a Bach piece for City of Bones movie
  • So, looks like they left in the part where Jace is playing the piano and Clary is looking for Jace after waking at the Institute (page 62 of City of Bones)
About Religious-ness:
  • Cassie incorporates many mythologies like Christian mythology, Jewish mythology, many other mythologies. She didn't want a specific religious mythology
About Magnus and Alec Criticism:
  • Cassie doesn't get criticism from publishers but there are some from reviews
  • She hasn't heard anything bad from libraries and etc.
  • Cassie says there is a real value of having one of your charters being gay and having relationships like the other straight characters
About Criticism:
  • Cassie doesn't read reviews; she never goes on goodreads or amazon
  • and doesn't plan on reading any movie reviews
Jokes:
  • About trying to get banned: Cassie: You should call your book 'Beautiful Cray' and I shall call mine 'City of Meth'

News from Cassandra Clare signing at Indigo

Experience on Cassandra Clare Signing on Saturday, November, 3rd
I was so pumped for the signing; I painted my nails, got my book in hand, and dressed in black

I got there at around 11 am (I would've been earlier but, the traffic was so bad it was like a parking lot). Indigo, put us in the aisles of the books. After waiting for 3 hours, Cassandra Clare finally arrived at 2 pm.
She told a hilarious story about the cast (My re-telling won't be word for word, so it won't be as funny):
  • Jamie (Jace) and Jemima (Isabelle) have both finished the series
  • Everyone else is on the 2nd and 3rd book
  • Kevin (Alec) is in the middle of City of Ashes and asks Cassandra Clare: how much stuff do me and Godfrey (Magnus) do?
  • Cassandra Clare: a lot
  • Jemima: ya, it's like 50 Shades of Gay
She released some interesting news:
1. About the books:
  • Sebastian cannot be saved
  • Gabriel, however, may be redeemable because he has not killed anyone
  • Clockwork Princess is the last book of The Infernal Devices, but Cassandra Clare announced that more is revealed in Lady Midnight -the 1st book in The Dark Artifices (coming out 2015).
  • In City of Heavenly Fire will have more Malec (Magnus and Alec) and Sizzy (Simon and Isabelle) drama
2. About herself:
  • Her favorite rune is fearless because it allows you to do something you would not normally do; it takes away the fear that stops you from doing what you want to do
  • When asked Team Will or Team Jace, she answered: Team Will!
  • She saw the trailer for "City of Bones" movie and says it is amazing
  • (As we saw in the Much preview) Cassandra confirms she did a cameo (she was in part of the movie). She is at Magnus' party, dressed up as a cat, while hanging out with some demons.
  • People ask her about the location of the movie set ALL the time, but she can't answer because movie producers/mangers' want to keep the location quiet.
  • @humilityc tweeted "I asked Cassie in the green room which artist she wants on the soundtrack & she said Florence + the machine!..."
We all got a rune tatoo and a "City of Bones" movie bookmark
Conveniently, it matched my nails. :P

After re-setting up the stage, the signing... began!

(Sorry about the blurry photo's -should have brought my camera camera, not cellphone camera)
We were each given 2 stick notes because Cassandra Clare would sign all our books but only personalize 2.
Indigo gave each of us a number, I was 17. We were organized into groups of 20, and they would start calling up numbers. There were SO many people by around 3 pm they had to cut off the amount of people that would get a signature! Around 4: 45 pm, they reduced the number of books signed to 4. Then at 5 pm they reduced the number of books to 2! FINALLY, at 5:30 pm, I met Cassandra Clare and got her to sign City of Bones! Waiting for 6 hours, totally worth it :D
